We know that the all-new Audi e-tron Sportback will make its official debut at the LA Auto Show next month. It’s been teased for some time and its concept debuted awhile back but the final production car won’t be seen by the public until late November. If you want to see it earlier than that, some new spy photos have surfaced, showing off the final production car without any camouflage at all. (We don’t own the spy photos but they can be seen here)
To be honest, while these photos show off an un-camouflaged car, they don’t really show us anything we didn’t already know about. An Audi e-tron Sportback covered in red/black camouflage was actually shown off publicly by Audi awhile back and that showed us the shape of the car pretty accurately.
We do get to see a bit more detail of the Audi e-tron Sportback in these new photos, though. So we can see that it has clearly defined rear haunches that look muscular and sporty. It also has a really nice looking C-pillar kink and little built-in decklid spoiler. The rear taillights also look really good. They’re similar to the e-tron SUV’s but slimmer and sportier looking.
Overall, the Audi e-tron Sportback is going to be a prettier car than the standard e-tron SUV. While that car isn’t bad looking, it’s a bit bland. This Sportback model is more interesting and more exciting. We always bemoan automakers making SUV “coupes” like the e-tron Sportback but it seems that Audi knows how to do it better than most, as this new car looks quite good.
We’ll officially see the Audi e-tron Sportback next month at the LA Auto Show and we’ll learn if it’s any different from the e-tron SUV under the skin. We have a feeling it will be virtually identical, mechanically, and it will have the same power/range. But we won’t officially know for another month.
