SPIED: Audi A8 Facelift Gets a More Aggressive New Look

Audi A8

This current-gen Audi A8 is low-key one of the best luxury sedans on the market. It might not have the luxurious pomp of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (especially the brand-new model) or the handling chops of the BMW 7 Series but it’s such a great blend of both that it’s hard to fault. It also looks great and packs great tech inside. So, if given the chance, the A8 can compete with even the best in the segment. Thankfully, it should be getting even better, thanks to an all-new facelifted model that was just seen testing in camouflage. (We don’t own the spy photos but you can see them here)

In these new photos, you can clearly see that the Audi A8 will be getting a new look up front, one that’s much more aggressive than the current car. For starters, it gets new headlights that feature a more aggressive design that, ironically, looks more like the pre-facelift B9 A4’s headlights. They’re sharper than the current car’s headlights and make the A8 seem sportier but we’re curious as to why Audi went with an older design.

The grille has changed as well. It’s not slimmer and again sportier. The checkered grille insert is much more aggressive than the horizontal slats that fill the current car’s grille. While some buyers may not like the bolder new design, instead preferring something a bit more understated, this new look might attract more buyers that felt the old A8 was a bit too stale.

Apart from the new front end, it seems as if most of the facelifted Audi A8 remains the same as the current car. Which isn’t too much of a bad thing, as the A8 currently has a nice looking rear end. Though, we are hoping for some updates on the inside, where the A8 is a bit too business-like.

So far, we like this new design change to the Audi A8, as it adds some much needed spice to its design. We don’t know when this facelifted A8 will make its debut but it’s going to need to come soon if it wants to compete with the all-new S-Class and upcoming BMW 7 Series.
