Audi is currently working on facelifted versions of the A4 and A5, keeping them fresh so they can compete with their newer competition. We’ve already see the facelift of the Audi A4, in both sedan and wagon form, but now some spy photos of the newly facelifted Audi A5 Cabriolet have surfaced. (We don’t own them but they can be seen here)
Just like the Audi A4 facelift, the Audi A5 Cabriolet gets a bit of a new face and butt. At the front, its new Singleframe grille is a bit smaller and sportier looking, while its headlights also get a bit sleeker. Though, the A5 is less changed up front than the A4, as even the pre-facelift A5 lacked the A4’s notched headlights.
Out back, the updated car’s taillights look newer and more high-tech, more in keeping with Audi’s newer cars, such as the A6. The shape of the taillights seems similar to the current car but the actual lights inside the housing look like those from the bigger A6. It also gets rectangular exhaust tips.
Aside from those changes, this isn’t a drastically different car than the one it replaces. It seems as if the Audi A5 lineup won’t be changed as much as the A4. That’s not such a bad thing, though, as it’s already such a good looking car. Plus, even when compared to its newest rival in the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe/Cabriolet, the A5 still looks modern and fresh. In fact, it’s still the best looking coupe/convertible in the class, in our opinion.
We don’t know of any changes under the hood but don’t expect much. The A5’s powertrain is still very competitive in the segment, so we don’t expect it to change much, if at all. Instead, it should really just be a visual upgrade, inside and out, to keep it looking fresh.
