A little while back, we saw some pictures on Instagram of the 2017 Audi R8 Spyder testing without any camouflage on. It looked exactly as we had expected it to look, with the current Audi R8 styling and a similar folding roof to the previous model. Those pictures were from a good distance, though, and weren’t the best of quality, so we couldn’t confirm much. However, new photos have arisen of the R8 Spyder and they’re up close and crystal clear.
With these new photos, we can see that we were right to assumed that the R8 Spyder would look similar to the previous generation. The bonnet vents on the rear engine cover remain and the overall profile looks incredibly similar as well. However, we will say that the new R8’s styling works better in Spyder form than the previous car’s.
Autoblog are the ones who have the pics and they seem to think that this could be the upcoming V6 model, but we tend to disagree. The Spyder is likely going to start life as a V10 with a V6 coming later down the line, but we do agree that the V6 is coming. Plus, according to Autoblog, Roland Schala, technical lead for the Audi R8, claimed that the “V6 is a perfect engine for this car.”
Anyway, regardless of engine, the new Audi R8 Spyder looks very good and is set to win over the hearts of those who love drop-top motoring.
