Shiny gold Audi R8 V10 Plus is a bit too much

We know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but a shiny gold Audi R8 V10 Plus is not really our cup of tea.

The car is currently on display at the Audi Forum Neckarsulm and looks striking, but not necessarily in a good way. Gold paints rarely work on cars and we believe this isn’t one of them since it makes the R8 look tacky. It’s not known at this point whether this is a real Individual paint or just a full body wrap that hopefully will come off very soon.

With Audi’s Individual program, sky’s the limit as far as customizations are concerned and we are positive you can actually get the vehicle with this controversial finish. It’s the range-topping “Plus” model with the side blades finished in carbon and the optional 20-inch 10-spoke Y-design black wheels shod in 245/30 R20 front and 305/30 R20 rear tires. The side mirror caps also have a glossy black finish and by the looks of it, the headlights have the standard LED setup rather than the optional Laser Light technology.

If you like this exterior appearance, you should know that at home in Germany, Audi is asking €3,100 for an Individual paint and €7,400 if you want it with a matte finish.
