Select Audis Will Get Holoride Virtual Reality Back Seat Entertainment

Beginning in June, 2022, certain Audi models will offer a new technology that every kid is going to be thrilled for — virtual reality entertainment. Select Audi vehicles, equipped with Audi’s latest MIB 3 infotainment system, manufactured from June 2022 and on will get VR entertainment compatibility from Holoride.

Using this new Holoride Virtual Reality entertainment, back seat passengers can experience, games, movies, and other interactive content, using VR glasses. This new tech will be on display at the upcoming SXSW (South by Southwest) festival, where US visitors will be able to experience the new VR tech.

What makes this Holoride tech different from just bringing VR glasses into any car? Holoride’s tech connects the VR experience to the motion of the car, creating a far more interactive environment. For instance, if you’re flying a spaceship in a VR game and the car turns right, the virtual spaceship will also turn right, making you really feel as if you’re flying through space. Holoride calls its “Elastic Tech”, as it can adapt to vehicle motion, vehicle speed, and even location.

The select Audi vehicles available with this new Holoride tech are as follows: Audi A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, Audi Q5, Q7, Q8, Audi e-tron and Audi e-tron GT. It will launch in three major markets first, Germany, US, and UK. Other markets will follow shortly after, including Canada, Japan, and China.

Both Disney and Marvel have partnered with Holoride to bring exclusive games and interactive content to Holoride and, therefore, your back seat.

When I was a kid, I had to pass the time on long family drives by counting certain colored cars on the road. Now, kids are going to get virtual reality rear-seat entertainment that literally incorporates the motion of the vehicle into the experience, providing the most immersive experience you can have inside a car that isn’t from the driver’s seat.

I've been in love with cars since I was a kid, specifically German cars. Now I get to drive them talk about them on the internet.
