The second-gen Audi R8 is currently being exhibited at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, prior to going on sale in the months to come. The car you are looking at is the base V10 version which will carry a starting price of €165,000 at home in Germany and it will serve as the base model since Audi has decided to drop the V8 4.2 liter engine.
The heavily reworked V10 5.2 liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine is now capable of outputting an impressive 540 HP and 540 Nm which is enough muscle to allow the R8 V10 run the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in just 3.5 seconds on its way onto a top speed of 200 mph (320 km/h).
Adopting an evolutionary design both inside and out, the second-gen Audi R8 comes with 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped around in 245/35 front and 295/35 rear tires while 20-inch rims are optional and are shod in 245/30 front and 305/30 rear tires. In terms of fuel consumption, the Ingolstadt supercar will need 11.8 liters / 100 km with corresponding CO2 emissions of 275 g/km.
The vehicle stops efficiently thanks to a set of steel brake discs while at an additional cost Audi is offering carbon fiber ceramic discs. The model weighs 1,555 kg (3,428 lbs) and has a 40 percent higher torsional rigidity while for more money it can get clear-coated carbon side blades, diffuser and front splitter.
On the inside it has received the 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit which can be configured in many ways and can work at an additional cost with a Bang & Olufsen 500-watt audio system and the Audi phone box. There are Alcantara/pearl Nappa leather and fine Nappa leather upholsteries to choose from along with clear-coated carbon fiber accents to spice up the cabin even further.
The Audi R8 V10 is set to go on sale sometime this summer.
