The Audi TT RS is one of the most fun little pocket-rockets on the road today. It’s small, powerful and shockingly fast. For 2019, the TT RS has received a bit of a refresh, to keep it youthful as its competitors get newer, and that refreshed car will make its US debut at the NY Auto Show next week.
What does this new refresh bring? For starters, a new face. It gets a newly designed Singleframe grille, now finished in matte black, that also features matte titanium “Quattro” script at the bottom of it. Behind that grille are new additional radiators for improved engine cooling, so the facelift isn’t only cosmetic.
Continuing at the front, new front air intakes, a new lower front lip and as-standard full LED headlights finish off the facelift. It also gets full LED taillights with dynamic turn signals as-standard and OLED taillights are optional. So it looks a bit sportier than before but isn’t too dramatically different.
There are also some new colors available for the TT RS, such as Turbo Blue (seen above), Tango Red metallic, and Kyalami Green.
Mechanically, it’s still the same Audi TT RS. That’s no bad thing, though, as the TT RS is a monster of a car. With its 2.5 liter turbocharged five-cylinder, making 394 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque, the Audi TT RS is capable of 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds. That’s astonishingly quick for its class, as the BMW M2 Competition can only manage around 4.1 seconds to 60 mph with 405 hp. So the TT RS is supercar quick with a sports car price tag. It’s also one of the best sounding sports cars on the market, thanks to its off-beat turbo five-pot, which sounds incredible.
The 2019 Audi TT RS will be added to the brand’s lineup this Spring and will start at $66,900. Considering that’s about the same as a Porsche 718 Cayman and the fact that a TT RS will lunch a Cayman in a straight line, that’s pretty good value, we’d say.
