Prince William rumored to possibly buy Audi e-tron

British Royalty has already been bitten by the EV bug, as Price Harry and Meghan Markle drove away from their wedding in an electrified Jaguar E-Type. So it seems as if the Royals are looking for a greener image. Now, we’re hearing rumors that Prince William might be looking into buying an Audi e-tron.

According to Autocar, Prince William, already and avid Audi customer, was caught checking out the Audi e-tron at a charity event. Admittedly, if the e-tron was at a charity event he was attending, we’re sure a lot of other people looked at it as well. That doesn’t mean that he or they are going to buy it.

Although, we do know that William’s and Harry’s mother, the late Princess Diana, was an Audi customer and famously had an Audi Cabriolet back in the ’90s. There’s even a photo of the three of them driving around in it. So William may have a soft spot for the brand and may be very intrigued by the idea of an all-electric Audi.

It actually makes quite a bit of sense for Prince William. He now has two children, so something large is more necessary (if either Kate Middleton or he actually drive much) and having an all-electric SUV would help give him a greener, more environmentally friendly image, something that would be quite useful for the Royal Family.

The Audi e-tron is due to be launched this upcoming Autumn but it’s possible Audi pushes it back. The reveal of the e-tron was already pushed back after the arrest of Audi CEO Rupert Stadler. So it’s possible that the actual launch gets pushed back as well.

Whenever it debuts, the Audi e-tron will be the brand’s first fully-electric car and it will pack 496 hp and 250 miles of all-electric range. So if Price William does decide to buy one, he’ll be able to boost his green image with some speed.
