Professional racing driver Pierre Kaffer was kindly asked by Audi to pose together with the brand new S8 Plus. Now it’s almost impossible to criticize Audi for not rolling out a fully-fledged RS8 because this new S8 Plus fills that role very well since it offers an unparalleled level of performance for a full-size luxury sedan.

Pierre Kaffer took the 605 hp super sedan for a spin and was obviously very impressed with the car’s brute force and its insane acceleration as the 0-100 km/h run takes a mind-blowing 3.8 seconds. Audi will electronically limit the S8 Plus to 250 km/h, but those who want to unlock the car’s full potential will be able to kindly ask Audi to raise the limiter to 305 km/h.

Power, luxury and prestige do come at a price as Audi is asking a steep €145,200 for the S8 Plus in its domestic market where it comes as standard with matrix LED headlights and 21-inch rims shod in 275/35 tires.

This “Plus” edition of the S8 serves as a last hurrah for the current generation A8 (D4) which is bound to be replaced towards the end of next year by an all-new model which will represent the very first car to be fully designed by Marc Lichte, the man in charge of Audi’s styling department.
