The Audi A4 is the four-ringed brand’s bread and butter. It’s the car that is the face of Audi, regardless of its flagship models, like the A8 or R8. The A4 is what sells and sells a lot. It’s also the brand’s most popular car. So when Audi revealed the latest model, the new B9-generation A4, it was quite a big deal.
Built on an entirely new platform, VW Group’s new MLB architecture, the new Audi A4 is significantly different from its predecessor. It may look similar, as the new car takes an evolutionary approach to styling rather than a revolutionary one, but there’s nothing shared with the old car at all. Boasting a new aluminum-extensive chassis, new technology, a new transmission and new engines, the B9-generation Audi A4 is far superior to the car it replaces.
We were able to get a brief test drive of the new A4 and were able to come away with the conclusion that it is simply better than the old B8-generation car in every possible way. It’s better looking, has a far better interior, its engine is leaps and bounds better and its technology blows the doors off the old car. The new A4 is a serious contender to lead its segment, which consists of cars like the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C Class and Jaguar XE.
