Paris Motor Show: Audi A1 — King of the Subcompacts?

In Europe, premium subcompact cars are quite popular. Cars like the Audi A1, Volkswagen Up! and even Smarts are commonly purchased by premium customers who live in crowded urban cities. While subcompact cars might not sound luxurious and exciting, compact size and ease of parking are very luxurious in cities such as London and Paris, where space is at a premium and street parking can be a nightmare. For those customers looking for something premium, stylish and also very small, the new Audi A1 might be the best option and, fittingly, it just dropped at the Paris Motor Show.

At the 2018 Paris Motor Show, there were several big reveals from many major automakers. Audi dropped a couple of debuts of its own, with the new Audi SQ2 and even the R8 LMS GT3 race car. And while the Audi A1 might not be new to the world, as Audi revealed it a couple of months ago, this is the first time many are seeing it in person.

While cars like the Audi SQ2 and R8 LMS are getting all of the attention at the Audi stand, it’s the Audi A1 that might be the most important. Not only is it premium, small and affordable but it’s very stylish as well. It’s front end is very sporty, with its angular headlights, honeycomb grille and three, horizontal vents under the hood. While the rest of the car’s chunky proportions, big wheels and roof spoiler round out its aggressive style.

2019 Audi A1 Interior

There’s no question, the Audi A1 is one of the most interesting looking cars in the segment, even if you don’t think it’s the best. That interesting and exciting styling is going to attract a lot of customers, especially young executive types. The inside is also superb and will quickly become the best in the segment.
