Audi Australia has announced the next generation Audi TT RS will be sold in the Land Down Under. Speaking to CarAdvice, Audi Australia general manager of corporate communications, Anna Burgdorf said the high-performance coupe will be offered by the local dealers since Australia is one of the top 15 markets in the world for Audi’s RS models.
Technical specifications are not available at this point, but last year we heard Audi technical project manager, Markus Sieward, saying the flagship TT model will once again be powered by the 5-cylinder, 2.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine. According to the latest gossip, the engine will be tuned to deliver more than 400 bhp to a quattro permanent all-wheel drive system through a dual-clutch gearbox (DSG) while a manual transmission is not being considered, a fact which will certainly upset purists.
It is believed the third generation Audi TT RS is going to be introduced in 2017 when the entire lineup will go through a mid-cycle facelift. It will be offered not only as a coupe, but also as a roadster and Audi Australia says the latter is being seriously considered for the local market whereas the previous models never made it there.
