Next generation Audi RS3 continues Nürburgring testing

A prototype of the highly anticipated next generation Audi RS3 has been spied while undergoing testing in Germany around the Nürburgring Nordschleife. It’s been a long time in the making but as they say good things comes to those who wait and chances are Audi is now putting the finishing touches on the RS3 which will likely take the shape of the five-door Sportback unless a four-door sedan is also planned to better compete with the Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG.

In this latest video we get the chance to hear the glorious soundtrack provided by the company’s iconic five-cylinder 2.5-liter TFSI turbocharged gasoline engine. In this latest application, the motor will develop “around 360 bhp”, according to Quattro GmbH Managing Director Heinz Hollerweger. He also said a 400 bhp next generation Audi RS3 is also possible but a decision has not been taken yet.

All that power will be sent to a quattro AWD system via a DSG gearbox but Audi is also analyzing the prospects of offering a manual transmission. We will know for sure in a few months as the next generation Audi RS3 is expected to be unveiled in October at the Paris Motor Show, with sales to kick off before the end of the year or early 2015.
