British media is speculating the next generation of the Audi A5 Coupe is scheduled to go on sale in the spring of 2016. Prototypes have been caught on camera numerous times which indicates Audi is conducting testing on the next generation A5 which will come out at first as a coupe and six month later as a convertible. The overhauled A5 lineup will adopt an evolutionary design that won’t stray away too far compared to today’s model.
Chances are the next Audi A5 Coupe is going to feature a slightly bolder appearance with a new interpretation of the single-frame front grille matched with bigger and more aggressive air intakes. As expected, the next generation A5 is going to be based on the next A4 (B9) set to come out sometime next year. The cars will ride on an evolved platform called MLB Evo which should come with a weight loss as well as a stiffer chassis and increased efficiency.
The Audi A5 Coupe will benefit from a stretched wheelbase which will grant a more spacious cabin with more legroom for passengers sitting on the rear seats. For more money clients will be able to configure the car with LED or matrix LED headlights, 20-inch alloy wheels, carbon ceramic brakes for both axles, along with a variety of new safety and assistance systems.
Front-wheel drive will be standard but at an extra cost Audi will sell the A5 Coupe with a quattro all-wheel drive system. Engine lineup will likely include (but not limited to) a 1.8 turbocharged gasoline motor rated at 180 HP, a beefier 2.0 with 245 HP and a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel packing 258 HP.
