The next-generation Audi RS6 Avant is almost here and that’s a very exciting idea. We’ve known that its debut was imminent for some time now but Audi has just released a new teaser image along with a rough reveal date.
In a recent posting on Audi Deutschland’s Facebook page, we get to see a teaser image of what appears to be an Audi RS6 Avant under a black sheet. Along with that photo, a caption states that Audi will be revealing a new sports car at the Audi City Berlin for Audi Sport driver’s club members. This will happen in the beginning September, so we won’t have to wait long to see the upcoming Audi RS6 Avant.
We can tell that this teased car is the Audi RS6 Avant based on two things; the height of the car, which clearly indicates that it’s a wagon and the taillight design, which is that of the Audi A6 Avant. Considering that the RS6 Avant is the only performance version of the A6 model family yet to be revealed, it stands to reason that it’s what Audi is teasing.
Also, Audi revealed a different teaser, prior to this one, which showed six upcoming Audi Sport models all under black sheets that were said to be revealed by the end of this year. One of which was clearly the RS6 Avant, so it’s pretty clear which car this is.
When it does finally debut, the RS6 Avant will pack a new 4.0 liter twin-turbocharged V8 with over 600 hp. It could push around 650 hp but we don’t know if that will happen right out of the gate. Audi will likely keep it around 600 hp to start, as that’s where its competitors from BMW M and Mercedes-AMG start, and then debut a faster model later on. Either way, we can’t wait to see it.
