Spanish media has managed to obtain extensive details about the engines which will power the next-gen Audi A4 (B9).
The entry-level model will reportedly be powered by a four-cylinder, 1.4 TFSI turbocharged gasoline engine equipped with cylinder on demand (COD) technology and rated at 125 HP sent to the front wheels through a 6-speed manual gearbox. There’s also going to be a 150 HP version of the same engine without COD and paired to an optional 9-speed S tronic. A 1.4 TFSI COD with 180 HP will also be on offer with both gearboxes.
Up next will be the 2.0 TFSI with 225 HP and 6-speed manual followed by a quattro version with 245 HP which could be teamed to the optional S tronic. A more interesting model will be the 2.0 TFSI quattro hybrid offering 225 HP + 35 HP (electric) and coupled to the S tronic only. A larger 3.0 TFSI quattro will generate 272 HP sent to both axles through the S tronic.
Moving onto diesels, the next-gen Audi A4 will be available with a 120 HP 1.6 TDI matched with a 6-speed manual. Several 2.0 TDIs will be on offer, developing 125 & 150 HP & 177 HP and paired to both gearboxes. The 2.0 TDI quattro will be sold in 177 & 190 HP versions with both transmissions while a 2.0 TDI with 220 HP and a 6-speed manual will also be available. There’s also going to be a beefier 3.0 TDI quattro with 218 & 260 HP and the 9-speed S tronic.
Lastly, the next-gen Audi A4 will allegedly get a 2.0 TDI e-tron version with 190 HP and 136 HP (electric) working exclusively with the S tronic transmission.
