The new generation Audi R8 LMS has crossed the finish line in top spot at the Nürburgring 24 Hours endurance race. It was two and a half months ago when Audi took the wraps of the overhauled R8 LMS and now the racecar has managed to win the famous endurance race thanks to the Audi Sport Team WRT with Christopher Mies/Nico Müller/Edward Sandström/Laurens Vanthoor.
During the 24-hour race, the lead changed no less than 35 times which represents an all-time record since the first race organized back in 1970. The second Audi R8 LMS to cross the finish line belongs to Belgian Audi Club Team WRT with Pierre Kaffer (D) and his team-mates Christer Jöns (D), Nicki Thiim (DK) and Laurens Vanthoor who came in seventh after losing three laps in the early stage of the race due to an accident.
As for the old Audi R8 LMS ultra, this one came in 11th and belonged to Team Twin Busch Motorsport with Dennis Busch/Marc Busch/Christiaan Frankenhout and was followed in 12th place by Franky Congfu Cheng/Marchy Lee/Shaun Thong/Alex Yoong.
