So far, we’ve seen a few reviews of the new Audi A6 and many pictures. However, almost all of the A6s we’ve seen have been more luxury oriented. They’ve all had lighter color schemes, air suspension and just have generally been more aimed toward luxury and technology. We haven’t seen one with S-Line trim and in an aggressive color yet, though. Until now, as a Mythos Black Audi A6 with black interior and S-Line trim just showed up at the Audi Forum.
In Mythos Black, the A6 looks fantastic. It looks like something Frank Martin would drive in The Transporter. The Audi A6 is already the most muscular looking Audi sedan at the moment, with its swollen rear wheel arches and angry headlights. In black, it looks even sportier and really quite good.
We also really like the A6’s interior in black. We’ve only seen it in brown and tan so far, thanks to Audi’s own photos, but in black it looks like a genuine executive sedan. Also, the S-Line interior trim, with the sportier three-spoke steering wheel, looks really good. It looks like the interior of a sport sedan and we love it.
The car in question is an Audi A6 50 TDI Quattro. That name is part of Audi’s new, and ridiculous, name scheme, so it’s very confusing. The “50 TDI” in the name suggests that it uses Audi’s 3.0 liter turbocharged V6 diesel engine. What the number “50” has to do with any of that we’re not sure. Just know that it’s the 3.0 TDI engine, which makes 286 hp and 457 lb-ft of torque. Which is a healthy amount and is probably the best all around engine in the Audi A6 lineup. Shame we won’t get it in the US.
In North America, the best engine will likely be the 3.0 liter turbocharged V6 petrol engine, the same one used in the Audi S4. That engine, paired with S-Line trim, and the sportiest suspension possible, in double black like this would be our perfect Audi A6.
