Is This Modified Audi Ur Quattro the Classic Audi for You?

For Audi fans, the classic car holy grail is the original Ur Quattro, the car that started it all for the brand. Of course, the Ur Quattro wasn’t the first successful Audi but it was the first car that put the four-ringed brand on the same playing field as BMW and Mercedes-Benz. It showed the world that Audi could put out premium performance cars, just like its German rivals. It was also a relatively limited model that didn’t see a ton of sales when it was new, back in the ’80s. Which makes this specific model up on Cars and Bids a great opportunity to get your hands on one.

This specific car is a 1985 Audi Quattro with quite an extensive list of modifications. Considering its age, it’s a fairly low-mileage example, with just over 99,000 miles on the odometer.

 

If you want an all-original car, this isn’t it. Its original engine was swapped out with the turbo-five-cylinder from a later ’90s model car. It’s a 2.2 liter turbocharged five-pot that’s been modified to make 257 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque, thanks to a 034Motorsport K26/GT28RS turbocharger. That engine is mated to a five-speed manual and Quattro all-wheel drive. But being a Ur Quattro, rather than a modern performance Audi, it has manual locking center and rear differentials.

It also has 2Bennett Audimotive coilover suspension with Koni shocks, Apikol Performance brakes (with Porsche Boxster calipers), and a Euro-spec front bumper.

 

At the moment, there are four days still left on the auction and the current bid is up to $27,000. Typically, Audi Ur Quattro’s can get quite a bit higher than that but this car is heavily modified, so it won’t be snatched up by a greedy collector, which means it might sell for a reasonable price. If so, this could be the perfect Audi Ur Quattro for the real Audi enthusiast.
