Lamborghini recently honored the late Ferruccio Lamborghini’s 100th birthday with the most powerful production car that the Sant’Agata firm has ever produced — the Lamborghini Centenario.
The Centenario will be a limited-production mid-engine supercar of which only 40 will be made. It will be powered by a naturally-aspirated 770 hp V12 engine that will be mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and power all for wheels. 0-60 mph is said to be around 2.8 seconds and it will have a top speed of 2017 mph. So it will certainly honor Ferruccio’s legacy well, in terms of performance. Of the 40 units that will be made, 20 will be coupes and 20 roadsters, all of which are already sold out.
Lamborghini released pictures of the Coupe variant already, a ferocious looking thing, but it has yet to show us what the roadster will be like. This shows the trust that its buyers have, as the 20 roadsters are already accounted for by loyal customers who haven’t even seen it yet. However, our friends at Top Speed have created a great render of the Centenario Roadster and if the final product ends up looking like this render, those 20 customers will be very happy.
One of the great joys of driving a convertible supercar is the sheer presence that they have. Supercars like the Centenario are already wonders to behold, but imagine seeing one with the top down. Plus, without a roof you get to hear all of that glorious V12 roaring behind you. Whatever the cost of the Lamborghini Centenario Roadster (said to be over $2 million) will be worth that al fresco noise alone.
