By now, I’m sure you’re aware of the Audi R8’s Italian cousin, the Lamborghini Huracan. It’s built on the same chassis as the R8, uses a similar suspension setup and, more importantly, has the same 5.2 liter naturally-aspirated V10 engine. That last bit is important, as the V10 in the Huracan makes 602 hp and allows the Italian supercar to get from 0-60 mph in just 2.8 seconds. If you didn’t know, that’s fast.
This is bad news for criminals in the Bologna area of Italy, as the Italian Highway Patrol just took delivery of a Lamborghini Huracan to use as a police car. Stefano Domenicali, CEO of Lamborghini, recently delivered the police Huracan personally in a recent ceremony. Donned in light blue with white striping and Italian flag-colored piping, as all traditional Italian police cars are, the police Huracan looks pretty cool.
It’s also been outfitted with all of the gear and tech that the police would need, such as the laptop inside the car, radio equipment and even gun holsters. There’s even been a special compartment in the frunk to transport organs in case of a medical emergency.
Typically when we see crazy supercars being used as police cars, it’s in places like Abu Dhabi, where they have the money to afford such things. It’s usually not Bologna, Italy, where this is going to spend most of its time. Also, I’d hate to be the idiot who tries to run from this police car. However, I’d also like to know that if I need a kidney or something, a Huracan is the car transporting it.
