When both the Audi Q8 and Lamborghini Urus were finally on the road, fans immediately noticed that they looked sort of similar. While not identical by any means, it was especially obvious that the Urus was built on the same MLB architecture as the Q8. They share similar size, roofline and body lines quite clearly. However, the Urus is far faster and more vicious than the Q8. Still, with a similar architecture, powertrain and technology, could we expect similar performance from the upcoming Audi RS Q8?
It’s not outside the realm of possibility to think that the upcoming Audi RS Q8 could be similar to the Lamborghini Urus, in terms of performance and capability. Both cars are based on the same chassis and have the same chassis tech, as previously mentioned. However, the more important bit is that they will likely share the same powertrain.
We’ve heard that the Audi RS Q8 will be powered by the same 4.0 liter twin-turbocharged V8 as the Urus, making at least 600 hp. While the VW Group will likely not let the RS Q8 out-pace the Urus, so as to keep the pricing hierarchy legitimate, it could certainly have a similar turn of pace.
In terms of handling and capability, we don’t expect the Audi RS Q8 to be exactly as impressive as the Urus, as the big Lambo is simply the most insane SUV ever made. But it’s not crazy to think that the Audi won’t be far off. It will have about 600 hp, tons of all-wheel drive tech and likely all of the handling bells and whistles that Audi has to offer. So expect the same active anti-roll bars, suspension and brakes as the Urus.
We don’t know too much about the Audi RS Q8, so this is obviously just speculation, and maybe even a bit of wishful thinking. Having said that, it’s not outside the realm of possibility for the RS Q8 to have similar performance levels as the Lamborghini Urus. And that’s a very exciting prospect.
