VIDEO: Audi Q5 Sportback Hybrid Takes on All of Its Competitors

The midsize premium crossover segment is the hottest premium segment on the market. For brands like Audi, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW, midsize premium crossovers are their best sellers. Such is the case with Audi, as the Q5 is its best seller, at least here in the ‘States. Naturally, because of that, there’s a ton of competition in the segment. So in this new video from Autogefühl, we get to see the Audi Q5 Sportback 50 TFSI e takes on almost all of the competition.

This video comparison isn’t an entirely apples-to-apples comparison, as some models are diesel, the Q5 is a hybrid, some have four cylinders, and some have six. However, it’s still a good representation of what each car brings to the market, as well as each car’s strengths and weaknesses.

Let’s take a look at the lineup. There’s the Audi Q5 Sportback, the newly-facelifted BMW X3, the Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class, the Porsche Macan, the Volvo XC60, and the Genesis GV70. All of which are very good cars, which means the Audi is going to have to be truly excellent to beat the rest of them.

Interestingly, the Audi Q5 Sportback 50 TFSI e is probably one of the best versions of the Q5 family. For starters, being a hybrid, the Q5 Sportback TFSI e is faster than almost all Audi Q5 models. But it also has the added benefit of an all-electric range and improved fuel economy. Additionally, being a Sportback model means it’s a bit more stylish than the standard Q5, which will play well to customers.

Still, all of the competitors in this test are very good, especially the Porsche Macan, BMW X3, and Genesis GV70, so the Audi Q5 Sportback has its work cut out for it. Autogefühl’s host Thomas is very thorough and compares each cars exterior, interior, technology, practicality, and driving dynamics.
