It was only earlier today when Audi published a new trailer for the A4 Sedan and now we have a huge photo gallery to share. The good news is many of the pics also showcase the Avant version which compared to its predecessor it is more practical as the trunk’s capacity has increased by 15 liters to 50 liters with the rear seats up and if you fold them down, the available space jumps to 1,510 liters.
Both body styles are actually larger than the ones they replace and despite their bigger footprint, the compact models are actually up to 120 kg lighter. The most important physical change is in the wheelbase which has grown by 12 mm to 2.82 meters, thus freeing up more room for the passengers sitting in the back.
The styling might be best described as being evolutionary, but in reality every single body panel has been reworked and this new A4 is more aerodynamically efficient than the B8 generation as the drag coefficient has been reduced to 0.23 for the sedan and to 0.26 for the wagon, thus helping boost efficiency.
Add into the mix some state-of-the art technologies like matrix LED headlights and the 12.3-inch Audi Virtual cockpit, the new A4 is shaping up to be a menacing adversary for arch rivals BMW 3-Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Only time (and sales) will tell whether Ingolstadt has what it takes to reign the compact premium sedan/wagon segment.
