While the current generation Audi A8 isn’t exactly fresh out of the box, being that it’s getting a bit old now, it’s still an incredibly handsome car with fantastic luxury on the inside. It’s actually quite amazing how well the A8 compares on the interior, considering how new all of its competitors are. Despite its age, the current-gen Audi A8 is still a beautiful and luxurious car.
This Audi A8L is the long wheelbase model, which gives it a larger, more capacious back seat along with some added luxurious for rear passengers. This Florett Silver metallic model comes in the 4.0 liter TFSI Sport trim and looks fantastic. The option 21″ Audi Sport 5-Arm wheels look especially good, as well. The 4.0 TFSI twin-turbocharged V8 engine develops 450 hp and is mated to an eight-speed ZF-sourced automatic gearbox. The V8 engine in the A8 is absolutely amazing, delivering gobs of power and torque with right-now immediacy. There’s not a moments delay when waiting for power, as turbo lag has been almost completely eliminated. The ZF eight-speed ‘box is smooth and brilliant in automatic mode, always keeping the car in the right gear and never hunting. In manual mode, via paddle shifters, the gearbox is quick and crisp, mimicking the best dual-clutches on the market.
A new Audi A8 is on its way and should be coming next year, bringing with it a suite of new tech, such as self-piloting capabilities and a lightweight construction. With Audi on the threshold of incredible new tech, we can’t wait to see what the next A8 is like. But until then, this current-generation looks pretty damn good.
