We already aware of the fact that the Audi RS3 sedan would be making it to North America, as we were able to catch a video of Audi announcing it privately. In fact, we even saw it, as Audi had one on display during this video. So it’s already been all but officially confirmed that the RS3 Sedan would be making the trip across the Atlantic at last. However, It’s now been officially confirmed by Audi of America CEO, Scott Keogh.
According to an interview with Automotive News, Keogh said that the Audi RS3 sedan would be making it to the US and that it is “going to be a great positioning car, a great halo car. I’m very confident we’ll see that car in the market. That’s as far as I’m going to go.” Unfortunately, we won’t be getting the awesome Sportback variant of the RS3 and will only be getting the sedan, but it’s better than nothing.
The Audi RS3 Sedan will get the same 2.5 liter turbocharged I5 engine as its European RS3 Sportback sibling. That means almost 400 hp and 0-60 mph in about 4 seconds. This engine will be paired with Audi’s seven-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch transmission and power all four wheels, via Quattro. With what we’ve seen from the RS3 Sportback in Europe, drifting through heavy snow and dirt roads, the Subaru WRX STI should be very nervous about the RS3 coming to America.
The Audi RS3 Sedan will likely come to the US market in 2017 and be marketed as a 2018 model. No word on pricing yet, but expect it to be a bit more expensive than the Audi S4 when it comes out, as it will have more power and likely have better performance.
