When most enthusiasts think of classic Audis, cars like the original RS4 come to mind as well as the original Audi Quattro. But the Audi 80? Not so much. For you American enthusiasts, you may know the Audi 80 as the Audi Fox.
This 1975 Audi 80, finished in that beautiful blue color, has only 53,000 kilometers on it and looks to be in fantastic shape. Its wedge-shaped body looks so different from current Audis that it’s actually quite refreshing. Look at an old BMW or Mercedes and you can see a family lineage there, but this Audi 80 looks completely different from the Audi design language since the ’90s. This Audi 80 is in such good shape, that it truly brings you back to the 1970’s.
The interior is much of the same story. With its bright yellow fabric seats and leather door panels, this like nothing we’ve ever seen from any recent Audi. Again, look at the interior of an old Merc or BMW and you’ll see where the current design theme has come from, but not so here.
The Audi 80 was powered by a 1.5 liter four-cylinder engine that only developed 74 horesepower and was mated to either a four-speed manual, like it is here, or a three-speed automatic. If that doesn’t sound like a lot to you…that’s because it isn’t. This Audi 80 is going to be slow, even by 1975 standards. But this car is brimming with character and history and shows a side of Audi that we’re not used to seeing. This car is a part of automotive history and something that should be considered by any classic car enthusiast. It’s a great looking, fun little car with a lot of history that’s in great shape. What more could you want from a classic?
