Build Your Own Audi S3 Sedan — Audi’s Best Value?

Now that the embargo for driving impressions has been lifted on the 2022 Audi S3 Sedan, we’re hearing great things about the way it drives. Our own contributor Chuck went out to Colorado to drive it and seemed impressed with its handling, performance, and ride comfort. This new S3 could be the best one yet. With that said, the high praise for Audi’s newest S3 had us building our own, using Audi’s new online configurator.

The new 2022 Audi S3 might be among the best deals in the entire brand’s lineup. Starting at $44,900 (before destination), the S3 comes with a 2.0 liter turbo-four that makes 306 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. According to Audi, 0-60 mph happens in 4.5 seconds — I remember when Ferraris were that fast. Its seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox is among the best in the business and it gets all-wheel drive as-standard.

Standard equipment on the entry-level S3 is quite impressive, too. It gets 18″ wheels, a panoramic sunroof, Audi’s latest virtual cockpit, and lane departure warning. Those are on top of things like leather seats, wireless Apple CarPlay, and the latest Touch Response MMI system.

Even if you want to jump up to the top-end trim level, the Audi S3 Prestige, it’s only $51,500, which brings Matrix LED headlights, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, Audi’s Virtual Cockpit Plus, a head up display, and MMI Navigation Plus.

Additionally, there are some great color options. To be honest, Audi doesn’t always have great color selections for its cars, sticking with your typical monochromatic colors. However, the 2022 Audi S3 gets some really cool colors, such as Turbo Blue (a no-cost option), Navarra Blue, Python Yellow, and Tango Red. Aside from the aforementioned Turbo Blue and Ibis White, all the colors cost $595.

However, counter to its great exterior color choices, there are only two interior choices — black and gray. Not exactly thrilling stuff, there.

Still, the new Audi S3 Sedan looks fantastic, almost so good that we forget we can’t get the S3 Sportback (almost…). Combine its good looks with its great handling and fair prices, the 2022 Audi S3 Sedan seems like it could be one of the best values in the brand’s current lineup.
