British magazine Auto Express had the opportunity to take the brand new Audi RS3 Sportback for a drive. They say it has all it takes to be billed as a “hyper hatch” while Audi has previously referred to this model as being a “world-beating car” powered by a “class-conquering engine”. Like you would expect from an RS-badged model, the high performance hatchback comes as standard with a quattro all-wheel drive system receiving power from Audi’s legendary 5-cylinder, 2.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine.
The company’s engineers have made some upgrades to this motor and it’s now capable of developing a massive 367 PS and 465 Nm. The same motor will also power the upcoming RS version of the third generation Audi TT, but most likely it will have a slightly different output. In the case of the RS3, it’s mated to a 7-speed S tronic transmission which enables the model to hit 100 km/h from a standstill in only 4.3 seconds.
As standard, the Audi RS3 Sportback comes with an electronic top speed limiter which means you won’t be able to go above 250 km/h. However, those who are willing to pay more can ask Audi to raise the limiter to 280 km/h.
Audi recently fired up the online configurator for their hot hatch which will start reaching customers in the summer.
