SPIED: Audi RS3 Sedan Seen Testing in the Snow

We recently learned that the Audi A3 Sedan would skip the 2021 model year and that North American customers will have to wait until 2022 to get their hands on this second-gen A3 Sedan. Bummer for American Audi customers who’d like to replace their A3 with something newer. Hopefully these new spy photos of the upcoming Audi RS3 Sedan will provide some solace. (We don’t own them but you can see them here)

In these new spy photos, we can see the Audi RS3 Sedan doing some lightly camouflaged testing in the snow. Unsurprisingly, it looks a lot like the A3 Sedan, just with some angrier bits. So it gets a more aggressive front bumper with larger air intakes, a lower front lip spoiler, a lowered ride height and some larger wheels.

Out back, though, there is something new. While it still has the signature Audi Sport dual oval exhausts, those exhaust actually seem to be built into the rear bumper, rather than sit below it. You can actually see camo’d body work underneath the exhaust pipes, so it seems as if they protrude out through the bumper, which is a new design for the RS3. That might seem like a small detail, and it is, but it does look cooler than before.

We know that the next-gen Audi RS3 Sedan will again have a 2.5 liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine with around 400 horsepower. It should make more than 400 horses, and we’re hoping for closer to 450, but we don’t know exactly what sort of power it will have. Power will be sent through a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox to all four wheels, as per usual.

When the Audi RS3 Sedan finally goes on sale, Audi will have something to compete with the killer Mercedes-AMG A45 S, which is currently dominated the small performance car segment.
