Audi took home two awards in this year’s edition of the Auto Bild Sports Cars contest. Readers of the German magazine had to pick from 143 cars in a total of 17 categories and the end result showed the S1 / S1 Sportback the most popular vehicle in the “Compact Cars, Production Models” category, with 51 percent of the votes going to the car with the four ring logo. As for the RS4 Avant, it was the top choice in the “Station Wagons, Production Model” as it was selected by 49 percent of the voters.
The Audi S1 three-door and S1 Sportback five-door both represent the range-topping models in the A1 range thanks to their 2.0-liter 4-cylinder TFSI turbocharged gasoline engine generating a massive 231 HP (170 kW) and 370 Nm (273 lb-ft) of torque channeled to a quattro AWD system. The S1 needs 5.8 seconds until 62 mph (100 km/h) whereas the S1 Sportback does it in 5.9 seconds, with both of them electronically-limited to 155 mph (250 km/h).
As far as the other winner in the Auto Bild Sports Cars contest, the RS4 Avant is an entirely different quattro-equipped vehicle as it comes with a naturally aspirated 4.2-liter V8 engine packing 450 HP (331 kW) and 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) of torque. It covers the 0-62 mph sprint in 4.7 seconds and will keep on going until 155 mph or 174 mph without the top speed electronic limiter.
