The Audi Virtual Reality Experience is a wearable device which the VAG-owned marque says will ease the process of configuring an Audi. It’s being described by the firm’s top sales executive Luca de Meo as the “most flexible sales format ever invented for the car industry.” It provides a first-person perspective in a virtual environment in which the customer can configure any Audi model and play around with all the possible equipment combinations.
The virtual reality handset will work together with a pair of Bang & Olufsen headphones replicating all sounds, starting from the sounds of the doors when these are being closer and up to the 14-channel sound coming from the Advanced Audio System in the flagship A8 model.
Luca de Meo says the Audi Virtual Reality Experience is very comprehensive as just for the A3 range it has approximately 30 million renderings of the model’s possible combinations, giving the prospect buyer the chance to customize any of the A3/S3/RS3 models in real time while having a look both inside and out.
Audi says the system will be effectively introduced later this year and at first it’s going to be available in markets described as having a “dynamic growth.”
