Audi upgrades A8 L Security to VR9 ballistic protection

Audi has elaborated an update package for the A8 L Security which now meets the VR9 ballistic protection.

The previous iteration of the model had a VR7 certification, but now it has been upgraded thanks to a reworked safety cell which is made from special aluminum alloys, hot-formed steel armor as well as from aramide fabric and other materials which have made the car not only more resistant to attacks, but also lighter.

It can be had with a choice of two engines: TFSI V8 bi-turbo 4.0-liter with 435 PS and 600 Nm or with a W12 FSI that churns 500 PS and 625 Nm. Regardless of your choice, both of them work with a reworked quattro AWD system and the cars are electronically limited to 130 mph (210 km/h), a restriction which was necessary in order to protect the run-flat tires.

Those who are interested in getting this model should know it’s already available on order and comes as standard with an intercom, armored communication box in the trunk, as well as a with a selective door unlocking system. Optional equipment includes an emergency fresh air system, fire extinguisher and an emergency exit system.
