The previous-generation Audi TT RS was a fan favorite among Audi enthusiasts, who love it for its good looks, incredible performance and an engine that shared similarities to the original Audi Quattro. However, it lacked a bit in genuine feel and didn’t have the enjoyment of cars in its price range, like the Porsche Cayman S and BMW M3. This new Audi TT, though, seems to be getting things right. It’s got loads more feel and feedback and feels like a proper sports car. So fans are obviously looking forward to an RS variant of this latest Audi TT.
At the moment, we have no official information on the upcoming Audi TT RS, as Audi has been mum about any details, only telling us that there is indeed a TT RS coming. However, we’ve gotten reports of some rumors coming from Germany, specifically, a German Audi dealership. Often times, people who work at car dealerships are invited to take a look at upcoming cars before they’re announced so as to get a better understanding of what they’re selling and maybe give their customers better insight to what might be coming. Apparently, some German Audi dealership employees were given a sneak peak at the upcoming Audi TT RS and we’ve gotten some of those details.
A forum member of Motor-Talk.de has given us some info that they procured from a local dealer who had visited Quattro GmbH for a meeting on the TT RS. Apparently, the upcoming Audi TT RS will feature a 400 PS (394 hp) 2.5 liter turbocharged I5 engine, much like the previous-generation’s, only with more power. There’s also a rumor of a TT RS Performance model that will have 420 hp and debut in 2017.
This anonymous source has also stated that the TT RS will be coming after the March 2016 Geneva Motor Show, likely sometime in April. We’re not sure why Audi would wait until after the Geneva Motor Show to debut the TT RS, instead of at it, but this isn’t exactly official information either.
We do know for sure that the upcoming Audi TT RS will be using that 2.5 liter engine and the reports of its power are probably accurate. But we still don’t have any official information on performance figures, cost or when it will arrive. We will update you as we get more information.
