Audi Sport has managed to triumph at the 2015 World Endurance Championship (WEC) opener in Silverstone. The Audi R18 e-tron quattro driven by Marcel Fässler, André Lotterer and Benoît Tréluyer completed 201 laps and took the win in an exciting six-hour race. Audi had to battle with Toyota and Porsche and the cars were involved in numerous overtaking maneuvers and in the end Audi took the win with a 4.610-second advantage in front of Porsche ( Dumas/Jani/Lieb) while in third came Toyota (Davidson/Buemi/Nakajima) at 14.816s difference.
The other Audi R18 e-tron quattro was driven by di Grassi/Duval/Jarvis and crossed the line on the fifth place at a four-lap gap.
Round two of the 2015 World Endurance Championship will be organized on May 2 at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium where a third car will participate. Wearing the number 9, it will be fielded by Audi Sport Team Joest and will be driven by Filipe Albuquerque (P), Marco Bonanomi (I) and René Rast (D).
