It has come to our attention that Audi has stopped production of the current generation RS4 and RS5 models. The rather surprising news comes from Dutch media who mentions Audi terminated production of the RS4 Avant, RS5 Coupe and RS5 Convertible late last month and they are no longer taking orders for any of these three high-performance models. We haven’t heard an official announcement from Audi just yet, but it will probably come in the following days.
Audi hasn’t shown yet the all-new A4 (B9) so it comes to us as a surprise to hear the three models have been axed taking into account their successors will not be out very soon. Since the new A4 will be revealed later this year, it means the S4 will be out early next year so the RS4 isn’t not due before the end of 2016 or early 2017. The A5 lineup will likely get a new generation in 2015 and will be followed by the S5 in 2016 so the new RS5 models are likely planned for a 2017 market launch.
Audi has promises to show the new A4 before the end of the month and then bring it to the Frankfurt Motor Show scheduled for mid-September.
