The Australian team from CarAdvice decided to conduct a drag race between the Audi SQ5 TDI and the Porsche Macan S Diesel. Seeing a couple of bulky crossovers drag racing is something that we are getting used to but for someone who is interested in a diesel-powered hot crossover it’s very interesting to see the model from Ingolstadt has proven to be quicker than it Stuttgart competitor.
This isn’t really a big surprise especially if you go over the technical specifications of both cars. The Audi SQ5 TDI is motivated by a V6 3.0-liter twin-turbo TDI engine outputting 313 HP (230 kW) and 650 Nm of torque. As for the Macan S Diesel, this one has a single-turbo V6 3.0-liter rated at 258 HP (190 kW) and 580 Nm.
While the Audi SQ5 TDI runs the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 5.1 seconds before topping out at 155 mph (250 km/h), the Porsche Macan S Diesel needs 6.1 seconds when equipped with the optional Sport Chrono Package or 6.3 seconds without it. Top speed for the Macan S Diesel is lower as the model can hit 143 mph (230 km/h).
In terms of fuel consumption, the Audi SQ5 TDI is rated at 7.2 liters / 100 km whereas the Porsche Macan S Diesel is considerably more efficient as it consumes between 6.1 and 6.3 liters / 100 km.
