Audi has released several images with the 14th built R8 LMX special edition out of a total of 99 cars. It was launched as possibly the last hurrah for the first generation R8 scheduled to receive a successor in 2015. The highlight of this one last final limited edition are the laser headlights featuring four high-power laser diodes emitting white light at a 5,000 Kelvin color temperature. These lights are turned on at 37.3 mph (60 km/h) and according to Audi they increase “visibility and safety.”
The Audi R8 LMX benefits from a camera-based sensor system which can automatically spot the other cars and it will adjust the light pattern in order not to disturb the traffic participants. The vehicle also comes equipped with unique 19-inch rims, carbon fiber ceramic disc brakes and glossy black exhaust pipes.
On the inside it gets Sepang Blue contrast stitching, fine Nappa leather upholstery and Ara Blue accents. Other goodies on the menu include illuminated door sill plates, a matte blue carbon fiber trim and an Alcantara headliner.
Priced at €210,000, the Audi R8 LMX is motivated by a naturally aspirated V10 5.2-liter gasoline engine outputting 570 HP (419 kW) and a peak torque of 398 lb-ft (540 Nm). It’s mated to a 7-speed S tronic gearbox which enables the supercar to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.4 seconds on its way to a top speed of 199 mph (320 km/h).
