The Audi S8 Plus has landed at IAA ahead of hitting dealerships in Germany starting November from €145,200.
An all-new A8 has been in the works for quite some time, but that hasn’t stopped Audi from proving the outgoing model still has some life in it. This S8 Plus is designed as a last hurrah for the D4 generation and is really a remarkable machine as despite being so big and heavy, it will run the 0-100 km/h journey in as little as 3.8 seconds before hitting a top speed of 305 km/h which is in fact electronically limited.
How is this possible? Well, Audi fiddled around with the V8 TFSI 4.0-liter twin-turbo engine and managed to squeeze a total of 605 PS (445 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque with the overboost function activated.
The Audi S8 Plus is not just about engine upgrades, as the engineers from Ingolstadt have also tweaked the air suspension, installed carbon ceramic brakes and made some changes to the dynamic steering system. In addition, the car rides on bespoke 21-inch alloys and gets a sports exhaust system and carbon fiber intake surrounds.
It might not be a full-blown RS8, but with these specs, we wonder if an even more hardcore version would make sense.
