Audi India has introduced the S5 Sportback at the 2015 Autocar Performance Show.
It starts out at INR 62.95 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi and Mumbai) and uses the familiar supercharged 3.0 TFSI engine with 333 hp linked to a quattro permanent all-wheel drive system receiving power through an S tronic gearbox. This helps the model rocket to 100 km/h from a standstill in 5.1 seconds and reach an electronically-governed top speed of 250 km/h.
For the Indian market, the S5 Sportback can be fitted with optional S sport front seats with “S5” embossing and electrical adjustment. It gets a 14-speaker premium sound system from Bang & Olufsen and also has the MMI Navigation Plus infotainment system with 3D navigation and a 17.78cm display.
Other goodies on the menu include the Audi Parking System Plus, anti-theft wheel bolts, Audi Drive Select and a rearview camera. Not like it matters a lot on such a car, but the standard start/stop system boost the model’s fuel efficiency to a respectable 12.34 km/l although those with a heavy foot will have a hard time achieving this especially since the car was developed to be driven lively.
Taking into account the all-new S4 just came out in Europe, chances are the next-gen S5 will be introduced by the end of next year or in the first half of 2017.
