Audi S3 Sportback is the best everyday car we don’t get in America

There’s something wrong about the fact that we don’t get the Audi S3 Sportback in America. With fantastic performance, impressive practicality and five-star luxury all wrapped up in one great looking package at a decent price, the S3 Sportback is impossible to beat. Yet, for some reason, we don’t get the brilliant little car on this side of the Atlantic.

However, the Brits get the little S3 and they happen to like it quite a bit. Top Gear recently reviewed the Audi S3 Sportback and claim that it’s probably the best premium hot hatch on the market.

In terms of power and performance, the Europeans give us even more reason to be jealous. The updated Audi S3 sedan here in the ‘States makes 292 hp, as it always has. The same updated S3 in Europe makes 306 hp, thanks to small increase in power. Even though the increase is small, it’s enough. When sent through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and all four wheels, those 306 ponies can get the S3 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds. That’s as fast as a C6 Audi RS6.

Not only is it quick, but it’s fun to drive, too. The newly revised suspension and steering on the updated S3 make it far more fun to drive than before, something we can attest to. It’s a genuinely fun little car to drive, even if it is a bit numb. It’s rapid and has tons of grip, which allows it to take corners at silly speed and fire out of them.

It also has the all-weather ability to flat-out embarrass other sports cars in bad weather. Light snow on the ground? No problem. It will torch the BMW M4 driver with the spikey hair struggling for traction.

According to Top Gear, only the Volkswagen Golf R is better, and cheaper, but if you want a fun hot hatch that also has a premium look and interior, there’s no better than the Audi S3 Sportback.
