The engineers from EKS have taken an Audi S1 and prepared it for this year’s FIA World Rallycross Championship where it will be driven by Mattias Ekstrom and Pontus Tidemand.
It is going to be powered by a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine generating 600 bhp which will be delivered to an all-wheel drive system. Thanks to this hardware arrangement, the S1 by EKS will need only 1.9 seconds to perform the 0-60 mph sprint, making it a lot quicker than the regular S1 which will do the run in 5.8 seconds.
The Audi S1 by EKS will make its racing debut towards the end of the month at the World RX of Great Britain where it will have to go up against specially prepared cars such as a Ford Fiesta ST, Citroen DS3 and a Peugeot 208. Behind the wheels of these cars will be reputable drivers like Jacques Villeneuve, Ken Block, Peter Solberg and Tanner Foust.
