Audi RS6 GTO Concept is a Killer Throwback to One of Audi’s Great Race Cars

One of the coolest race cars to come from Audi, well… ever, was the Audi 90 IMSA GTO, which was a ferocious, fire-spitting monster from the early ’90s. To honor that car, along with 40 years of Quattro, is this — the Audi RS6 GTO Concept.

This idea came from one of Audi’s trainees at Audi’s Neckarsulm facility. It’s based off of the standard Audi RS6 Avant but has been stripped out and made to look like a proper race car, in the same vein as the 90 IMSA GTO.

It looks absolutely incredible, this car. For starters, it gets a unique livery, one that evokes images of the old IMSA racer. It then gets a new split grille design with an entirely new front bumper and lower air intakes. New side skirts also get cutouts for side-mounted exhausts, which are among the coolest things on this car. Out back, a large roof spoiler adds some aggression.

Of course, it also gets killer white wheel covers, with red center locks. Not only are they similar to the 90 IMSA GTO but they also look fantastic.

On the inside of the Audi RS6 GTO Concept, you’ll notice that its normal, comfortable leather chairs have been replaced with racing buckets and four-point harnesses. The back seats have been replaced with a roll cage and the center console cubbie swapped for a series of racing buttons.

This Audi RS6 GTO Concept is one of the coolest and most unique concepts we’ve seen from Audi in a long time. While it’s obviously never going to be put into production, we’re just thrilled that it exists. Now all we need to do is work up enough money for an Audi RS6 Avant, so we can mod it to make it look like this concept. That’s all we really want from life, now.
