British magazine Auto Express decided to organize a drag race between the Audi RS6 Avant and Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series. Aside from being entertaining, drag races are also a good way to compare two cars and find out which of the two is faster in a sprint from a standstill. In the attached video we have two different cars as one of them has a naturally aspirated engine while the other is turbocharged.
NA engines are a dying breed as automakers are already replacing them with turbocharged motors and this has already happened in the case of the C63 as Mercedes-Benz decided to drop the V8 6208cc V8 in favor of a smaller 4.0-liter V8 turbocharged mill. While the old engine delivered 451 bhp and 443 lb-ft, the new one pumps out 476 bhp and 479 lb-ft so it’s not only more powerful but significantly more economical.
As for the Audi RS6, the hot wagon is motivated by a V8 4.0-liter twin-turbo engine unleashing 560 bhp and 516 lb-ft so it is packs more punch than its drag race competitor. Aside from the NA / turbo difference, it should be mentioned the C63 AMG Black Series is rear-wheel drive whereas the RS6 has a quattro all-wheel drive arrangement.
Thanks to the additional power and traction, it shouldn’t come as a surprise the Audi RS6 clearly took the win.
