For all of our friends across the pond, we have some good news and some bad news for you. The good news is that pricing for the all-new Audi RS6 Avant has just been announced. The bad news is that it’s very expensive.
Admittedly, we all knew it was going to be expensive, it’s always expensive. But it’s still priced higher than most enthusiasts can afford. In the UK, the Audi RS6 Avant will start life at £92,700 (about $120,000), which is a seriously expensive car. We’re talking Porsche 911 Carrera S-money. In defense of the RS6, it’s a lot more car than the 911. While the Porsche is an incredible sports car, possible the best in the industry, the Audi RS6 is faster, has more seats, far more practicality and is more comfortable. So for the same price, you’re getting two cars; a ballistic performance machine and a family-hauling luxury car.
Also announced is the pricing for the Audi RS7 Sportback. Like the Audi RS6 Avant, the RS7 is also very expensive. In fact, it’s even more so. Starting at £97,050 (about $125,000), the RS7 is even pricier, yet comes with less interior space and practicality. They also have the same powertrains and are about as fast as one another. I guess that extra bit of money is for the extra style and cool-factor of the RS7. No one ever said fashion was cheap.
Both cars are powered by a new 4.0 liter twin-turbocharged V8 with 591 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. That engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic and Quattro all-wheel drive in both cars. Both cars also get an electronically-controlled limited-slip diff at the rear axle, rear-wheel steering and Dynamic Ride Control (DRC) as options. So both the Audi RS6 Avant and RS7 Sportback are very, very fast cars.
It’s hard to go wrong with either, as they both offer a ton of performance, comfort and luxury. However, it’s hard to overlook the Audi RS6 Avant. Sure, the RS7 is sexier but the RS6 can double as a family car as well as any crossover while also burning sports cars at stop lights. I’d say that’s worth the money.
