Audi RS6 Avant and RS7 Sportback get Two New Hankook OE Tires

At the moment, it seems as if every performance car on the market comes with the same OE (original equipment) tires — Michelin Pilot Sports. Admittedly, Michelin’s line of Pilot Sport tires is incredible, so it’s no surprise that automakers stick with it. However, it’s nice to see some other great tire brands getting their shot at developing OE performance tires for genuine high-performance machines. For instance, the Audi RS6 Avant and RS7 Sportback now get two new OE tire options from Hankook.

Hankook has been putting out some excellent tires as of late and is quickly becoming one of the more popular options among young Audi enthusiasts. Not only are Hankooks great tires but they come with lower price tags than their competitors from Michelin, Continental, and Pirelli. We have Hankooks on our project B6, two sets in fact, and are incredibly happy with both.

On the Audi RS6 Avant and RS7 Sportback, the two new tires options are the Ventus S1 evo 3 high-performance summer tires and the optional Winter i*cept evo 2 performance winter tires. Ironically, those are the exact two sets of tires we have and we love them both.

“Audi RS 6 Avant and RS 7 Sportback combine impressive driving performance with suitability for everyday use,” says Hyunjun Cho, Head of Hankook OE Division. “The same can be said about our premium tires. As a long-standing partner, we already equip many high-performance Audi models and are very proud that our products once again impress Audi Sport GmbH.”

To test the summer tires, they were fitted to the aforementioned Audis and beaten for ten straight laps of the entire Nurburgring Nordschleife at 10/10ths.

Hankook might not be the most popular name in performance tires at the moment but their new position as an OE manufacturer for two of the hottest, most powerful performance cars in their classes will help grow that popularity. It will also show that Hankook is the real deal and makes some of the best performance tires in the business. If they’re good enough for the Audi RS6 Avant and RS7 Sportback, they’re good enough for almost anything.
