Audi RS5 DTM driven by Mattias Ekström wins inaugural DTM race

Driving the Red Bull Audi RS5 DTM of Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline, Mattias Ekström registered his 20th victory in a DTM race this past weekend. The first part of the race was held on a dry track and Ekström triumphed in his duel with title defender Marco Wittmann (BMW) and then the rain set in so the drivers had to switch to wet tires. This is when Ekström overtook his teammate Edoardo Mortara (Castrol EDGE Audi RS 5 DTM) and then he kept extending his lead, managing to cross the finish line with a 7.3s advantage.

By taking second place, Edoardo Mortara granted Audi with a one-two win while the next car with the four ring logo was the Schaeffler   Audi RS5 DTM of Audi Sport Team Phoenix of Mike Rockenfeller which despite starting from pole position had to settle with sixth place.

Saturday’s race was won by Jamie Green in the Hoffmann Group Audi RS5 DTM of Audi Sport Team Rosberg who although fighting for the top ten he didn’t manage to grab any points as he crossed the finish line in 13th place.
