Audi RS3 Sportback spied during Nürburgring final testing

The highly anticipated Audi RS3 Sportback has been spied yet again while undergoing final testing in Germany around the Nürburgring. We are getting closer and closer to an official unveiling of the range-topping A3 as the hot hatchback will likely be seen in about two weeks at the Paris Motor Show before going on sale late 2014 or early next year.

Seen here is a camouflaged prototype stretching its legs on the Nordschleife and equipped with Audi’s iconic 5-cylinder 2.5-liter engine. The identity of the engine has already been confirmed and it will develop an estimated 360 HP according to quattro managing director Heinz Hollerweger. He also says Audi is analyzing the prospects of launching a more powerful variant with up to 400 HP but a decision has not been taken yet.

Like all RS models, the 2015 Audi RS3 Sportback is going to be equipped as standard with a quattro all-wheel drive system receiving the power from a DSG gearbox although a six-speed manual transmission is also being considered.

Audi could decide to sell the RS3 also as a sedan taking into account a few months ago at the Worthersee show they brought the interesting A3 clubsport quattro concept so for the first time ever the RS3 badge could be put on two distinct body styles.
