While we’re patiently waiting for the new Audi RS3 Sportback, you can count on YouTubers to ease the wait by bringing us footage of the outgoing model. Take for example this fine Sonoma Green specimen, which was caught by Automotive Mike in The Netherlands featuring a rather subtle ABT tune to complement the not-so-subtle paint job.
The five-cylinder hot hatch attended the CoviDrive event held by The Supercar Society, a Dutch organization that sets up a variety of local and international events for car fans. Be it track days, domestic tours and rallies, lifestyle events or day meetings – The Supercar Society fuels your passion for cool cars.
The RS3 Sportback certainly fits the cool car bill, especially when it’s dressed to impress in Sonoma Green with an ABT tune. While technical specifications concerning this car are not available, we do know what sort of work the German tuner offers for the 2.5 TFSI engine. The base package takes power from the series 400 hp and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) to 440 hp and 520 Nm (384 lb-ft), while the S package bumps those numbers furthermore to 470 hp and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft).
Equipped with the ABT Power S kit, the Audi RS3 Sportback can run to 62 mph (100 km/h) from a standstill in a mere 3.7 seconds or 0.4s quicker than the standard car. Flat out, it’ll reach an impressive 177 mph (285 km/h). Not too shabby for a compact car, right?
This particular RS3 in Sonoma Green also rides on ABT’s custom 20-inch alloy wheels finished in black and has the optional front fender inserts finished in a similar dark look. A dead giveaway about this car being subjected to the aftermarket treatment is at the back where the standard dual oval exhausts have been replaced by an arguably more aggressive quad setup.
As for the next RS3, it should be out either by the year’s end or early 2021, but not before the warm S3. Once again, the two hot versions from Audi Sport will be offered in both Sportback and Sedan body styles, but only the latter is heading stateside.
